[Definition] When you take The Dash Action, you gain extra movement for the current turn. (D&D 5E)

Welcome to The Dash Action! A blog talking Dungeons & Dragons and all things tabletop.

I'm Dashmeister. I’ve been playing games of every shape and kind since the ’80s. For me, play isn’t just a pastime; it’s a vital part of how we connect, learn, and imagine. So much so that I built my career around games.

If you’re into D&D, other roleplaying games, or just curious about the ever-growing tabletop scene - The Dash Action is for you.

Here, you'll find a mix of:
  • Game impressions and reviews
  • Ways to get more from your hobby
  • Spotlights on companies and creators shaping the tabletop world

Where to start

A love letter to the game that got me started. Learn why it still holds magic, how to dive in if you’re new, and where to set your next epic. Plus: ideas to deepen your experience beyond the game table.

I revisit a classic board game in its new form. Is Hasbro’s remake a critical success - or just a comforting reroll? Find out where it lands and what it might mean for the franchise’s future.

Where to go next

Want more D&D?

Join me as I return to 5th Edition after a decades-long break.

Curious about my home campaign?

Follow Phandalin’s Finest as they battle the dragon menace Cryovain, in a homebrew mash-up of Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon of Icespire Peak. Be sure to start at the oldest post and be warned - spoilers!

Ready to try something new?

Discover fresh systems as I bar-hop my way through popular tabletop RPGs and lesser-known gems.

I’m also diving into board games, miniature wargames, and trading card games - expanding my own experience and sharing what I find.

Signing off

Whether you're here for the nostalgia, the stories, or the strategy, I hope The Dash Action gives you a reason to pause, roll some dice, and remember why this hobby is so endlessly rewarding.

Thanks for joining me.
